The Economics of AI R&D in Waste Management Applications
Waste Management
An economic model of a waste managing firm that chooses to undergo R&D to increase the efficiency of their waste disposal. Models a firm's investment and payoff in AI technologies, including an additional R&D cost toward AI solutions and the various parts of a firm's profit maximization function where the solutions yield benefits.
An Analysis of an Intellectual Property Rights Based Subsidy
Identifies a relatively novel type of subsidy that aims to bring privately optimal levels of R&D into balance with social optimum, and compares it to traditional input and output based subsidies. Spun off from the AI R&D paper after feedback from reviewers.
